All Dressed Up & No Place To Go!?
Bella and I apparently came in within the top 20% of fund raisers this year in Quebec for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR). Surprised, we took it in stride as we know that we couldn't have done it with the very generous and kind people who supported us in our endeavour. It was our first year participating though I had been keeping an eye on this event ever since my buddies in India posted pictures of their DGR event several years ago. So it was with some excitement that we set off in late September to attend the first ever DGR event organized right here in Sherbrooke, Quebec by Jessika Wilson who operates Boutique l'Office.
The Distinguished Gentleman's Rider 2017
I was originally supposed to attend the DGR ride in Montreal, Quebec but changed to Sherbrooke just a few days before it was to take place. In hindsight, I kinda regret doing that. I had been invited to some fancy Wine and Cheese party the Friday night before in Montreal that I also regret not having attended. In short, though the organizers in Sherbrooke were very nice, it didn't capture the same magic of the DGR that is often developed over time in larger cities. That, or maybe I just was feeling homesick for Montreal. In any case, I got to see many nice motorcycles and I even met some really charming chaps. As the pictures illustrate, there were as many different kinds of bikes as there were characters in attendance.

There are always ups and downs when it comes to riding in any group, no matter what the size. I confess that Bella and I soon found ourselves riding solo as we were tired of photo ops and felt the need to be riding instead of posing. Nevertheless, it was genuinely a fun experience overall. The latter is enhanced by the fact that so many countries participated and we couldn't help but feel like we were part of a larger community. The best part of all is the fact that we managed to help raise awareness about Men's health.
I want to say thank you to the following people who sponsored me for this year's Distinguished Gentleman's Ride: Marie-Lynda Horth, Percy Hart, Daniel Vincent, Tasos Sellas, Philippe Soucy, Peter Cohen, Lindsey B. Peterson, Shah, Geoffrey Darwent and Mike Bosse. Because of your support I managed to raise $500 USD in support of the Movember Foundation. Without the help and support of people like you the DGR would not be able to raise the 4.8 million dollars that they have.
